Setting up the website has certainly been a learning experience. From figuring out a name, to picking a theme, to learning to insert pictures and links. I started with the WordPress Free site. It gave me an opportunity to work with the formatting, learn the “ropes” of site navigation and setup, but it also didn’t want to do things I wanted it to do. I wanted to be able to manipulate pictures; I wanted to be able to link pictures to pages, as I had been told I needed to do. I wanted to add payment onto the site. The Free site didn’t allow me to do much, or any of that. I finally got my site mostly set up the way I wanted it, and published it out to the world. But, it had advertising all over it. My husband, who has been working with WordPress, and other companies, to create and maintain sites of his own, said that I needed to upgrade. Everything else I read also said that I needed to upgrade. Okay. What do I upgrade to? Personal, Premium, or Business. Each has its own benefits and hindrances. After researching each one, I decided on Premium. What I wanted to do with this website, seemed like the best choice, and the price was reasonable for what it allowed me to do — basically everything I wanted to do — although, I haven’t figured out “how” to do everything yet. It supposedly allows me to do what I want to do. I’m continuing to add pages, add items in the same way I started. My next step is adding a cart and/or “Pay” button to the site/site pages, so that friends and relatives from far away can order, pay, and receive items.
I didn’t know there were so many options…….
To Be continued.
