Back Again

It’s been a while! Life said, “Leave that alone and Come With Me!” I didn’t have much of a choice; I had to follow. Work, friends, husband and family, and an opportunity for personal and professional development. They all took a toll on me and drew me in different directions!

Here, a few days ago, a friend said she had gotten a necklace from me and had lost an earring to it. She wanted me to replace, or recreate the earring. She said she had worn the necklace a lot and really liked it. She sent me a picture of the necklace and the earing she still had. To be honest, I didn’t recall making that necklace for her, but the more I studied on it, and she eventually sent it to me, so I could see it for myself, I was getting more aware that I could have made that necklace. It had my style and feel. I told her I would do what I could. After she had sent it to me, I found that the necklace, had definite signs of being worn – a lot.

As I looked through my beads to see if I could a) replace the earring, and b) replace the beads that was showing to be quite worn, I found some beads that matched the ones on the necklace. At that point, I had realized that I had made that necklace and earring set. Then, to top it off, I came across a picture of that exact necklace that I had made, dated November 2017! WOW! 5 years later! The necklace was still holding up, although a few of the beads was showing as being worn with use. I have decided to replace those worn beads with something else, but keeping the same color of beads being replaced, so as to keep the same color scheme. And, I will replace the earring.

The above paragraphs were written at the end of 2022. Here it is now April and I wanted to update this. I completed the necklace shortly after that and replaced the worn beads. There was, what I consdidered, a worn bead on the earring too, so I also replaced that, and I recreated the earring to match the other to replace the one that had been lost. I sent it back to her, and she said she loved it! I asked a small charge, mostly to cover labor (this is a business after all), but she even sent me a tip!

I am still somewhat amazed that the necklace had held up so well in 5 years, particularly her saying that she wore it a lot and really liked it. I am really glad that it held up so well for her, but — in some ways, maybe I shouldn;t be so surprized. The original necklace I made for myself (in my first post), I’ve had for 10 years, or more! and I’ve worn it quite a bit, too, although not as much lately. It too is still in good shape.

Till next time!……….
