About

I initially put together this page to view and to sell jewelry. I wanted to get into jewelry making because: one: I found I like it and two: I enjoy working with it. I started because I wanted jewelry in colors or styles that I couldn’t find out in the stores. What better way to get what you want, than to make it yourself.

My first necklace was working with my Mother-in-Law, before she was my mother-in-law, to create necklaces for a school project. She was involved with the PTA and they were going to have a carnival at the school. Somehow they/someone thought about selling jewelry, probably figuring it would mostly go to the kids. We took beads and thread, and a crochet hook. We crocheted the gold or silver thread, added in a bead, crocheted some more of the thread, added another bead, and continued.

When I completed that project, I found some small, white-ish heart shaped beads with red mixed in – kind of like you see with marble stone. I had some silver thread, and followed the same pattern. I made it long – long enough to wrap it around my head/neck twice. I really enjoyed that necklace, and I wore it a lot. I think I would have that necklace still today, except that our house was broken into; the thieves took my jewelry box, and that necklace was in it. I think I had just worn that necklace the day before, but just not that day. I have to laugh a little when I think of it because the necklace didn’t have any monetary value, but it had value to me. I liked that necklace, and like I said, I wore it a lot.

The second real necklace I made was a little more than 10 years ago. I wanted a necklace that matched, or coordinated with some, what I’m going to call, maroon clothing that I had. I came across some acrylic beads that were maroon. They worked well with the clothing I was trying to match. I put them together, and still wear that necklace today. Again, it is one that I like, I wear it a lot, but it wouldn’t have a lot of monetary value to it, if you tried to pawn it. In fact, they would probably laugh at you for trying to pawn it. I eventually made matching earrings from some of the extra beads.

I then wanted a blue necklace to go with several blue pieces of clothing I had. I found some blue glass beads with swirls of silver mixed in. They went well with the clothing, so I got those and made a necklace. I wore it often, then, but not as much now – partly because, for some reason, I don’t have as much blue clothing today. I wasn’t able to make any earrings to match; but for that time, that was okay.

Lately, I have gotten back into making necklaces, again because I need something to match my clothing. I found I also like doing it; it gives me a way to be creative. I can make something that not only matches clothing that I have, but I can give it away as gifts to match others’ clothing. I’m sure that others have as much trouble finding specific jewelry they like, in the colors they want, and in the styles they want, as I do.

I eventually came to create this website because I received encouragement from others that I could sell my necklaces. They liked them so well, and they would be willing to pay me for them. I initially thought of getting several together – more like ‘a lot’, 50, 75, 100…. – and getting a booth at events, such as, “An Affair of the Heart”, or one of the other ones that come out in the fall. I know someone who had done that, so it was something that I felt I could do also. I knew, however, that I wouldn’t be able to start this year, my life is just too busy to be able to spend as much time on it as I would need to be able to get even the minimum together for a fall event.

I only have a little time each week to be able to spend working on something that “I” want to do. I feel like many of you reading this can understand what I mean, because you feel your life is exactly the same way. So, I’m learning to spend what time I can on it, and enjoy doing it. It is something that I can do to relax, take my mind off of my “worries”, my anxieties, or just to ‘take a break’ and use my creativeness.
